In loving memory of Roger P. Hill, of Bourbonnais, IL, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, proud veteran, and longtime member of the community.
Roger passed away peacefully at the age of 73, surrounded by his loving family on July 11, 2024.
Visitation will be from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Thursday July 18, 2024, at Clancy-Gernon Funeral Home in Bourbonnais. A Mass celebrating Roger’s life will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday July 19, 2024, at St Joseph Catholic Church in Bradley. Interment will follow at 1:00 p.m. at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery, Elwood.
Roger was born August 15, 1950, in Kankakee to Joseph and Ursula Hill (Jeck). He was happily married to his loving high school sweetheart and wife, Linda Blanchette who he married January 23, 1969, and for 55 years they raised two children, Matthew and Jessica, who both married and brought five beautiful grandchildren into Roger’s life, whom he adored and loved.
Roger graduated from Bradley Bourbonnais Community High School in 1968. He was a veteran of the United States Army where he served in Vietnam. After returning home, he pursued a career as a barber for 50 years and was the proud owner of Professional Hair Design where countless generations have sat in his chair.
Roger enjoyed playing golf with his wife, family, and friends where he found joy on the green. He was a die-hard fan of the Chicago Cubs.
Surviving are his wife, Linda of Bourbonnais; son Matthew P. Hill and daughter-in-law Julie Hill of Bradley and daughter Jessica L. Lopez (Hill) and son-in-law Thomas (Tommy) Lopez of Valparaiso, IN; five grandchildren Jackson Hill, Harrison Hill, Bronson Hill, Magdalena (Maggie) Lopez, and Thomas Drummond (Drum) Lopez. Roger is preceded in death by his parents, parents-in-law, Paul and Anna Blanchette; his brother Michael Hill and two sisters-in-law Shirley Blanchette Marquis and Phyllis Blanchette.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established for the Illinois Veterans home in Roger’s honor. Roger will be deeply missed by all who knew him. May he rest in eternal peace.
