Regina LaFontaine passed away at home on April 7, 2025, surrounded by her three daughters, a profusion of her garden’s daffodils and her rosary in her hands.
Visitation will be held from 4-7 p.m. Friday, April 11, 2025, at Schreffler Funeral Home in Kankakee. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday, April 12, 2025, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Bradley. Interment will follow at All Saints Cemetery in Bourbonnais.
Regina Ann (Grant) LaFontaine was born May 17, 1934 in Louisville, KY to her late parents, Edwin and Anna Lee (Higdon) Grant. She married Robert E. LaFontaine on Sept. 20, 1958 in Pleasure Ridge Park, KY.
Regina’s first job was at Fort Knox right after high school, where she worked until 1958 when she met and married Bob. She retired from Pediatrics Limited after over 30 years as an office manager. She was an active member of St. Joseph Parish in Bradley, IL where she had been past president of the CCW, a Eucharistic Minister, Homebound Minister and Hospitality Minister and managed the Manna program for many years. Regina volunteered at St. Mary’s Hospital for 27 years. She enjoyed her flower and vegetable gardens, sewing and crocheting. The planner that she was, she left a collection of crocheted baby blankets for her yet-to-be-born great grandchildren. She and Bob enjoyed many travels in their retirement visiting Italy, Greece, Turkey, Germany, Alaska and the Panama Canal.
She was preceded in death by her husband Robert, brothers James Grant, William Michael Grant and Charles Frederick Grant. She is survived by daughters Lisa (Brad) Black, Chicago, IL, Patricia (Neal) Seidenberg, Fort Collins, CO, Jeanine (Mark) Paschke, Fort Collins, CO, sisters-in-law Cecelia Grant, Garland, TX and Elinor Grant, Louisville, KY and six grand children: Nicholas (Lauren) and Madeline Black, Alex and Ethan Seidenberg and Jack and Ella Paschke, and one great-grandchild, Parker Black.
