The music ministry at St. Joseph Parish offers opportunities for those who love to make music and enjoy the fellowship of wonderful musicians. The different groups within the ministry serve at weekend liturgies and special services. Each particular group has its own rehearsal schedule during the week and welcomes new members at any time.
The music ministry is currently seeking confident singers to lead in liturgy as Cantors. Individuals interested in being a Cantor must have basic music reading skills and the demeanor to stand in front of the congregation and lead song. Vocal training and sight-reading capabilities are a plus and scheduling is flexible.
The Adult Choir welcomes all adults who have the desire to share their musical gifts with the St. Joseph community. There are no auditions and new members are always welcome at any time throughout the year. Although this group continues to sing throughout the summer, weekly rehearsals run only from September to June.
The Young Adult Ensemble welcomes singers and instrumentalists from middle-school through college to come together to grow and share their musical talents. Ensemble rehearsals occur before the liturgy they are leading to be keep time commitments light.
The music ministry is always looking for other instrumentalists to enhance music at liturgy. These musicians must demonstrate strong skills in accompanying and sight-reading, as well as having a strong knowledge of the flow of the liturgy, and the role of music minister at Mass.
