Gerald John “Jerry” Frechette, age 89, of Bradley passed away Thursday, August 22, 2024, at the Bickford House in Bourbonnais.
Visitation will be held from 9 a.m. until the time of the 10:30 a.m. funeral Mass on Tuesday, August 27, 2024, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Bradley. Interment will follow at Kankakee Memorial Gardens in Aroma Township.
Jerry was born December 15, 1934, in Kankakee, the son of O’Neal Joseph & Loraine Viola (Poskins) Frechette. He married Janice M. McFarland on February 20, 1960, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Bradley. She preceded him in death on June 2, 2009.
Jerry worked at Roper and Uptown Sales in Kankakee and was a nighttime custodian at BBCHS. In his early years, he was big into square dancing and bowling. Jerry was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan and loved playing video games. He was a parishioner of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Bradley.
Jerry was a veteran of the United States Army, having served for 2 years at Ft. Leonard Wood.
Surviving are his children, Joan (Jim) Webb of Lexington, KY, Jayne (Bill) Walsh of Lombard, Julie (Greg) Azzarelli of Kankakee, and John (Kelly) Frechette of Powell, OH; 15 grandchildren, Kathy (Alex) Ruzsa, Jimmy (Karen) Webb, Tommy (Traci) Webb, Amy (Alex) Karmgard, Christina (Nathan) Curry, Debbie (Michael) Keane, Cecilia Azzarelli (Drew Hartman), Luke (Taylor) Azzarelli, Joel Azzarelli, Bridget Azzarelli, Augustine Azzarelli, Paul Azzarelli, Jeremy (Stephanie) Frechette, Lydia (Alex) Swearingen, and Madeline (Jesus) Aguilar; 16 great-grandchildren; one sister, Roseanne Frechette of Sammamish, WA; and two sisters-in-law, Margaret “Muggs” Frechette of Bourbonnais and Judith Frechette of Urbana. In addition to his wife, Janice Frechette, Jerry is preceded in death by his parents; twin brother, Harold Frechette; and siblings, Donald Frechette, Doreen Clausen, and Richard Frechette.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Joseph Catholic Church or Uplifted Care.
