Dennis Charles Bossinger, age 82, of Peoria, AZ passed away Saturday, June 8, 2024.
Visitation will be held from 4-8 on Monday, June 17, 2024, at Clancy-Gernon Funeral Home in Bourbonnais. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, June 18, 2024, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Bradley. Cremation rites will be accorded following the Mass. Inurnment will be held at All Saints Cemetery in Bourbonnais at a later date.
Dennis was born October 24, 1941 in Hammond, IN, the son of Charles & Rita (Dillon) Bossinger. He married Cynthia LaVoie on May 17, 1985.
Dennis worked in public education for 38 years at many levels from teacher, coach, Dean of Students, Business Manager, and leaving as Superintendent at Bradley Bourbonnais Community High School. He was a graduate of Bishop Noll High School, Eastern Illinois University, University of Illinois and Illinois State. Dennis was an avid runner, golfer, and you could say he was a true sport nut. He volunteered at many organizations in Kankakee County, including Chamber of Commerce, Rotary Club, the Elks, and the Moose.
Surviving are his wife, Cynthia Bossinger of Peoria, AZ; his children, Angela (Paul) Martino of Elmhurst and Timothy (Beth) Bossinger of Colorado Springs, CO; stepchildren, Shawn (Tabitha) Ayres of Murphysboro and Bryan (Nicole) Ayres of Peoria, AZ; brothers, William Bossinger of Schererville, IN and Mark (Vivian) Bossinger of Venice, FL; one sister, Mary Ellen Kozanda of Schererville, IN; sisters-in-law, Helen Jean Bossinger of Schererville, IN, Kathy LaVoie of Bourbonnais, Brenda (Jim) Groth of Sachse, TX, Kristine (Gary) Schmitz of Bronston, KY, Sandra (John) Maguire of Bourbonnais, and Jodi (Tim) Ryan of Bourbonnais; brother-in-law, Kurt (Mary) LaVoie of Bourbonnais; and grandchildren, Lucas Bossinger, Jake Bossinger, Annaliese Bossinger, Brock Bossinger, all of CO, Jack Martino, Francessca Martino, Will Martino, Gryphon (Kimberly) Ayres, Verity Ayres, Tillie Ayres, Allie Ayres, Juju Ayres, Chivy Ayres, Iggy Ayres, all of IL, Chloe Ayres of TX, and Ruby Ayres of AZ. Dennis is preceded in death by his parents; his children, David and Melissa; one brother, Lawrence Bossinger; brother-in-law, Gregory LaVoie; and father and mother-in-law, Lloyd & Lorraine Ruder LaVoie.
