William F. “Bill” Palmateer, age 76, of Bradley passed away Tuesday, May 15, 2018, at his home.

Visitation will be held from 1- 5 p.m. Sunday, May 20, 2018, at Clancy-Gernon Funeral Home in Bourbonnais. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Monday, May 21, 2018, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Bradley. Father Michael Powell will celebrate the Mass. Cremation rites will be accorded following the services. Burial will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday, May 22, 2018, at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery in Elwood.

Bill was born August 1, 1941, in Kankakee, the son of Frederick & Dorothy Balegno Palmateer. He married Nancy Massey on April 28, 2001, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Bradley.

Bill retired from Armstrong World Industries on August 1, 2001, after working there for many years. He enjoyed golfing, bowling, dancing and woodworking. Bill loved to go fishing and camping. He enjoyed playing cards with his card club and playing horseshoes. 

Bill was a veteran of the United States Navy, having served on the USS Halsey Powell. He was a parishioner of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Bradley.

Surviving are his wife, Nancy Palmateer of Bradley; four daughters and two sons-in-law, Linda & Michael Partyka-Johnson of CO, Christina Earley of CA, Jennifer & Ron Thornton of Bradley, and Christine Rogers of Bourbonnais; six grandchildren, Andrea, Brittni, Jordan, Tyler, Kody, and Kory; two great-grandchildren, Athena and Alexis; and two brothers and two sisters-in-law, Bruce & Melody Palmateer of Chebanse and Michael & Val Palmateer of Manteno. Bill is preceded in death by his parents and one aunt, Lu.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family wishes.
