Ronald K. Merillat, age 79, of Loves Park and formerly of Bourbonnais, passed away Saturday, February 16, 2019, at OSF St. Anthony Medical Center in Rockford. 

Cremation Rites have been accorded. Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. until the 7:00 p.m. memorial service on Friday, February 22, 2019, at Clancy-Gernon Funeral Home in Bourbonnais. 

Ronald was born March 10, 1939 in Kankakee, the son of Keith & Bertha LaFine Merillat. He married Virlene Uehle on June 28, 1969, at St. Joseph Church in Bradley.

Ronald was in law enforcement. He had worked for the Bradley Police Department. Later, worked at the Kankakee County Sherriff’s Department as a process server, correction officer, and deputy Sherriff.

He also worked in auto-body repair and painting at Netherton’s and Milton Motors. 
Ronald was a precinct committeeman for Bourbonnais #19. He was a food pantry volunteer and enjoyed wood crafting.He served in the Illinois National Guard for six years. Ronald was a parishioner of St. Bridget Catholic Church in Loves Park. 

Surviving are his wife, Virlene Merillat of Loves Park; two sons and one daughter-in-law, David Merillat of Kankakee and Brian & Candy Merillat of Bradley; one daughter and son-in-law, Ronda & John Heilman of Roscoe; five grandchildren, Shelby Logbeck, Trevor Merillat, Cody Merillat, Nathan Merillat, and Taylor Heilman; two great-grandchildren, Talon Logbeck and Reign Logbeck; and many cousins, nieces, and nephews. 
He is preceded in death by his parents; and two brothers, Clayton Merillat and Kenneth Merillat.
