Madeleine M. “Madge” Power, 101, of Bradley, passed away peacefully on Saturday, September 2, 2023, surrounded by her family at Ascension St. Mary’s Hospital.


Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Friday, September 8, 2023, at the Clancy-Gernon Funeral Home in Bourbonnais.  A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Saturday, September 9, 2023, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Bradley. The Rev. Tony Nugent will celebrate the Funeral Mass. Entombment will follow at Mount Calvary Cemetery Mausoleum in Kankakee.  


Madeleine was born on July 24, 1922 in Beaverville, Illinois, the daughter of Ovid and Rosella Fortin.  She married Jerome V. Power on June 17, 1944 at St. Mary's Catholic Church “The Cathedral in the Cornfields” in Beaverville. He preceded her in death on May 25, 1984.  


Madeleine’s family has given her the greatest joy and purpose in her life. Having a large family kept her active and involved going to all of the various activities.   She could be seen at sporting events, dance and music recitals taking pride in whatever her family was doing.  She hosted the big family Christmas Eve party at her house every year until she was 95 years old.  


Madeleine was a devoted member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Bradley since 1940.  She served as President for the Sodality of St. Anne.  She was a hospitality minister for Saturday's 4:00 pm Mass, Healing Masses, Funerals, and First Communion Masses.  


Madeleine worked as a department manager at Shoppers Fair, Bradley and a receptionist at Pediatrics Limited. She was a member of the Ladies of the Moose, Red Hatters Club, BB Senior Group, Limestone Club as well as many other clubs in which she made lifelong friendships.  She was an avid Chicago Bulls fan, loved to travel, garden, crochet, play cards, bingo and socialize with her many friends.  


Madeleine is survived by two sons and daughters-in- law, Thomas and Janet Power of Aurora, Colorado and Daniel and Sharon Power of Bourbonnais.  One daughter and son-in-law, Susan and David Boudreau of Chicago.  One daughter-in-law, Mary Power of Castle Rock, Colorado.  13 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren.  And many nieces and nephews.  


In addition to her husband, she is preceded in death by two sons, Joseph and James Power, daughter-in-law, Kandie Power, as well as her parents, brothers and sister.  


Memorials may be made in Madeleine’s honor at St. Joseph Catholic Church or Uplifted Care.
