Robert “Buster” Busteed, 84, of Bradley, passed away Monday (Nov. 13, 2017) at Riverside Medical Center in Kankakee.

Cremation rites have been accorded. A memorial visitation will be from 9 a.m. Saturday until the 11 a.m. memorial Mass at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Bradley. Burial will take place at a later date in St. John Cemetery in Menasha, Wis.

Robert was born on Oct. 26, 1933, in Bloomington, Ind., the son of Dr. Robert C. and Ada Busteed. He married Joan Jape, in Menasha, Wis., on Aug. 27, 1960. He received his master’s degree from West Texas University and taught P.E. and coached at Fritz and Amarillo, Texas, Lostant, Ill., athletic director at Bradley-Bourbonnais Community High School, and P.E. coach and co-operative work training coordinator at Westview and Kankakee High School. Bob retired and continued to substitute at BBCHS and Kankakee High School until 2015.

He enjoyed golf, exercising, watching all sports on TV, especially his Dallas Cowboys, reading and working crossword puzzles, designing leather belts, hunting, fishing in Canada and playing euchre on Saturdays. He also enjoyed having morning coffee with his buddies every day.

Surviving are his wife of 57 years; daughter, Jamie Cagle, of Bradley; and son, Rob (Sharon) Busteed, of Fayetteville, Ark.; four grandchildren, Jacob, Alysa, Emma and Lawrence, of whom he was very proud and loved; several nieces and nephews; two brothers, Richard (Mary) Busteed, of Waukesha, Wis., and Wallace (Diana) Busteed, of Coldspring, Texas; and sister-in-law, Mary Siegel, of Menasha, Wis.

Preceding him in death were his parents; one brother, Phillip; one brother-in-law, Edward Siegel; and one sister-in-law, Beth.

Memorials may be made to St. Joseph Catholic Church or the wishes of the family.
